The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame was established in 1986 as a way to honor people who've contributed to the musical genre of rock and/or roll. Since then, the institution has significantly strayed from its original purpose, including numerous acts and artists who could in no way be considered "rock & roll."
In 2001, Michael Jackson (the "king of pop," not "king of rock") was inducted, by of all people boy-band N'Sync.
In 2007, the first rap act was inducted, Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five.
And now, the announced 2008 nominations include a pop artist (Madonna), a rap artist (Afrika Bambaataa), and two DISCO acts (Donna Summer, and Chic).
I'm sorry, but the inclusion of disco is just the last straw.
We, The Undersigned hereby declare that the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame should officially henceforth change its name to the Pop Music Hall Of Fame, to reflect their true intentions.
