NEW TERRITORY/SARTARTIA MIDDLE SCHOOL RE-ZONING
Current FBISD rezoning plans will send current & future Sartartia Middle School students to Middle school #14, being built in Pecan Grove. Please consider the following points, sign this petition & support us in this effort to:

KEEP NEIGHBORHOOD KIDS IN A COMMUNITY SCHOOL,
SARTARTIA MIDDLE SCHOOL.

COMMUNITY ~ Brazos Bend Elementary students will be zoned away from Sartartia to M. S. #14 in Pecan Grove, dividing our community. They will also bus in kids from Venetian Estates & other communities more than 5 miles away to replace the BBE kids. Sartartia friends, kids who play on the same sports teams, in the Jaguar band & orchestra, & extracurricular groups, like Girl & Boy Scouts, will be split apart for good! Tutorials could be impacted. Volunteers must drive 9.2 miles to help at school.
This is NOT a neighborhood-building move.
***If FBISD zones half of N.T. neighborhoods away from a middle school that is not over capacity & inside this community, is a rezone of overcrowded Austin H.S. next?

SAFETY ~ Our children face longer bus rides (estimates from a bus driver are half an hour)on Hwy. 99 & must cross Alternate 90 (highway) or railroad tracks (at the Harlem Rd. route) to reach the school outside Pecan Grove. Safety issues in regard to a 9.2 mile distance are a concern when Sartartia is only 1 to 2 miles from our homes.

PROPERTY VALUES ~ Property values may be adversely affected by busing kids out of one half of New Territory to a school on a route almost 10 miles away.

SCHOOL INTERESTS ~ SARTARTIA is safe & convenient for New Territory families. Safe, interconnected, walk/bike paths to Sartartia flow from every neighborhood on both the East and West sides of our community, greatly reducing the need for busing. It is a GREEN alternative, minutes to school, instead of miles away on fuel-guzzling, polluting buses. Re-Zoning puts our kids in harms way by forcing them to be bused on highways to a school half an hour away, and gives them no choice to safely walk or ride their bikes on New Territory paths.

*Anyone who is over the age of 18 and a New Territory resident can sign the petition.

449. David B | Sartartia is part of the master plan design of New Territory by being placed in the center of the community connected by bike trails that go under the major roads in the area. It makes for a safe cohesive environment for the children. The children grow up

446. Melissa O | Communities should remain with community schools for all reasons listed in the petition. People want their children to be able to safely go to school and to walk when necessary. This would just add cost of bussing kids.
