Inconceivably, CBS has chosen to cancel the popular sitcom, Listen Up, starring Seinfeld alum Jason Alexander and the Cosby Shows Malcolm-Jamal Warner.
What has CBS chosen to renew instead for this coming fall?
- Yes Dear: A bad sitcom about a hot wife and her fat husband that's miraculously survived year after year of poor ratings and scathing reviews. This show was beaten in the most recent Neilson Ratings by "Listen Up." (Listen Up was #45 for the week, Yes Dear #46)
- Still Standing: A silly sitcom about a hot wife and her fat husband with absolutely no premise to speak of.
- King of Queens: A stupid sitcom about a hot wife and her fat husband thats run its course and then some.
Listen Up is a fresh show with a unique premise based on the zany Tony Kornheiser and his wildly successful ESPN show, Pardon the Interruption. While Listen Up may not be the best show on television, in an era on sound-alike sitcoms, this is a funny half-hour with gifted actors in every role. And it's the only show in primetime whose premise is sports related.
These are Listen Ups ratings for the season. Do these sound like the ratings of a freshmen show that doesn't deserve a second shot? 48, 46, 45, 53, 37, 34, 30, 35, 33, 48, 38, 34, 24, 25, 35, 53, 59, 44
Those weekly rankings place it squarely in the top half of all shows every week and on 10 occasions in the TOP THIRD!
Simply put, it deserves another chance on CBS schedule.
