Save Our Values

There is much wrong with our small planet: social division, injustice, inequality, poverty, hunger and the ongoing mutilation of the environment. Yet there is much reason for hope as new technologies connect millions of minds in a collective effort of an unprecedented nature. And you have a vitally important role to play.

Collectively you spend almost a trillion dollars(US) in trying to convince us to buy your goods and services. Half of which, as your experts readily admit, is wasted. We ask you to divert just 10\% of your advertising/marketing budget to running a campaign to put in place the most important piece in the solution puzzle: the restoration of our core values.

The campaign, entitled "Do Right by Others. Pay it Forward", aims to restore our core value of doing right by others as expressed in the biblical exhortation of "love thy neighbour" and in the universal golden rule of "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

It rejects the notion that our values should be based on "competitive self-interest" as promoted by market-based economic theory which has it roots in the false idea that vices not virtues are the engines of social progress: in essence, on the notion that greed is good. This detour into selfishness is an aberration in the history of humanity.

It asserts, once and for all, that the guide to our actions should be the needs of others ahead of our own needs. This awareness of the needs of others has underpinned our progress from living in caves in fear, to walking on the moon in triumph.

The campaign will lead to a more selfless, more altruistic, inclusive, just and cohesive society. And this makes good business sense.

If you support this campaign we will put you on our Honor List and we will support you by exercising our consumer choice in favor of you, whenever and wherever possible. We will also tell our family, friends and colleagues to do the same.

However, if you remain deaf to our pleas we will put you on our Dishonor List and will avoid you at every opportunity. We will tell family, friends and colleagues to do the same. If need be, we will picket outside your places of business, we will send emails, hand-out leaflets and do whatever it takes to convince you that you have a responsibility to society not just to your shareholders.

We know there are many decent men and women in the corporate world who sense the danger and want to do something about it. It is you we appeal.
