Havering Council are taking the axe to vital services that provide vulnerable young people with support and a safe haven from abuse, family issues, and discrimination that can destroy their futures.
The Conservative Administration has set out plans in Council papers to "move away from fixed based services would enable greater flexibility and nuance in service delivery through a street-based provision" (Page 41, Full Council, 20th July).
This equates to services being provided out of mobile vehicles which will not provide a safe place away from home to be counseled or to share their experiences with those of a similar age group suffering from the same abuse.
They will also withdraw funding from the central Romford Youth Zone facility and from support groups serving specific vulnerable groups.
We call on the Lead Member for Childrens Services to guarantee the protection of Havering's young people and restore protection to those specific vulnerable groups with services that have adequate facilities and equipment for the needs of users and staff.
