Save Skegness' Southern Foreshore From Redevelopment

Recently in the local press, it has been reported that East Lindsey District Council is planning on re-developing the foreshore along South Parade, Skegness, Lincolnshire. We,as residents/visitors are appalled that such a tranquil area as the southern Boating Lake, Fairy Dell and Pitch and Putt are likely to be replaced by commercial activity similar to that on Grand and North Parades, decimating what is left of the more genteel seaside activities that have been enjoyed by generations.

We belive that these areas have, in their present state been subject to considerable neglect by the Council, and feel that if they were looked after to a fitting standard and utilised (eg re-introduction of firework displays, some sort of sound system on boating lake island enabling visiting performers the opportunity of showcasing their talents etc, plus adequate signposting), they could reach their full potential, and provide a haven from the huste and bustle of the town, which is what many holiday makers wish to escape.

We therefore ask ELDC to carefully consider any alteration of use of the Southern Foreshore.
