Spelthorne faces the biggest fire cuts ever for a Surrey Borough. Currently there are two fire stations at Stanwell/ Staines and Sunbury, but the Conservative plan is to reduce the cover by 50%, leaving only one fire engine for the whole borough, 90 000 people.
Spelthorne is the most crowded borough in Surrey, with the most tower blocks, the busiest roads and the highest concentration of vulnerable people. At present there are 35 fire engines in Surrey covering 11 boroughs but the new plan would give Spelthorne just one fire station and one fire engine.
We the undersigned believe not only that this is unfair but that these cuts endanger life and property.
We call on the Conservative controlled council to think again to Save our Fire Service in Spelthorne.
