Save the Full-time TMS & THS Library Media Specialist Positions

We, the undersigned, strongly oppose the proposed cuts to certified library media specialists in the middle school and high school. The consolidation of these two positions into one position serving both schools will decimate the current library programming and instruction and could potentially jeopardize NEASC accreditation. Students and staff at both schools will lose full-time access to a certified library media specialist who is trained in information literacy, technology, and is an expert in literature. Students' research and reading pursuits will be severely hampered, and the ability of the library media specialist to support teachers in the areas of curriculum and technology will be impaired. Each school needs its own full-time certified library media specialist to maintain the current level of service offered to students and staff.
