Strathclyde University has decided to close and sell-off the Ramshorn Theatre, Glasgow , as part of an effort for Strathclyde University to become a centre of technical "excellence". The University of Strathclyde's Principal, Jim McDonald, is trying to squeeze out the arts as part of this move.
The Ramshorn Theatre, in the heart of Glasgow's Merchant City, is an historic building and part of the fabric of Glasgow's rich cultural heritage and an integral part of many people's lives. This decision will lead to a beautiful and important theatre being closed down and sold to the highest bidder, it may be converted into flats, a pub, a car park or, even worse, just left to crumble.
Do you want to see an historic building maintained and cared for?
Do you believe in Glasgow's status as a city of culture?
Do you believe in and support the future of the arts, theatre and music in Glasgow and in the UK?
If the answer to any of these questions is yes, then please join with us to support the fight against this misguided decision.
