Nestle Rowntree have in their ultimate wisdom decided that they will ensure that childhood may never be quite the same again - the maker of Smarties has announced it is to ditch the colourful chocolates' tube-shaped packet.
Nestle Rowntree is to replace the beloved 68-year-old cylindrical design with a hexagonal or six-sided pack.
The removable plastic lid on the current design will also go in favour of a cardboard flip-top.
Many a child used the old plastic tops with letters on, to learn their alphabet, and play spelling games.. The tubes were used in many an art and craft lesson.. So many adults have fond memories of the traditional Smarties tube. Changing it for the sake of it, will only increase your costs, drive customers away, and increase waste. (the new packaging has to use more materials...)
Please, please reconsider.. We love the conventional Smarties tube, please don't change it!
