Say NO to Corzine Speaking at Graduation

Jon Corzine, a Democratic Senator from New Jersey has been invited to speak at the Spring Commencement Ceremony at Stockton College on May 9, 2005. By signing this petition you are letting Stockton President Herman Saatkamp know that you think it is inappropriate to give Corzine, who is running for Governor of New Jersey, a forum to speak to thousands in the middle of what will be a highly contested election. It is important for everyone to understand that a graduation ceremony is not a time to play politics and that is exactly what is being done.
Jon Corzine is a man who put over $60 million of his own money into his campaign for Senator in 2000. Mr. Corzine bought a seat in the Senate and is now trying to buy the Governors Mansion in Trenton. He is one of the most liberal Senators in the United States and has blatantly used money to secure political endorsements, consistently attacked President George W. Bush and his platform, and has also avoided many serious issues that are important to the future of this great state. He does not understand that homeowners in New Jersey are crippled by soaring property taxes; nor does he understand how much the corruption within the New Jersey Democratic Party is also costing N.J. taxpayers.
Jon Corzine is an elite limousine liberal who has ignored many of the issues facing New Jerseyans from across the state. Having Corzine speak at graduation is extremely unfair to those who do not support or agree with his views but will be forced to sit through his speech in order to see their loved ones graduate. Furthermore, there are many students graduating who disagree with Corzine and will be forced to listen to him deliver a speech at an event they should remember and cherish forever. This should be a time of celebration and enjoyment; not one of partisanship. Do not allow Corzine to interfere with this time of accomplishment and pride. Thank you for signing this petition.
