This E-petition is to strongly oppose Selby district council’s site allocation plan, policy and process which recommends the location of a traveller’s site on Poplar Farm in Whitley.
This petition is not an attempt to blindly block the long term plans to create sites for gypsy and travellers, but to petition against the Poplar Farm location in Whitley which is clearly not suitable or sustainable despite the site being put forward as the perferred option.
The lack luster and contradictory processes which have already outraged other communities is still continuing, if not Whitley, who will be next?
Sign the petition to gain support to have the policy/decision makers think about the communities they are upsetting - it could be you and your community next.
A decision to enforce a site to become a travellers site on a community, based on unclear evidence, without the support of the local travelling community and without proper consultation does not form the basis of a democracy.
Help Whitley residents fight Selby District Council on this issue.
