All of us know what it is like to be a victim of racism! It doesn't matter what color we are...racism travels far beyond that most of the time. How many of you have ever been picked on because you wear glasses, have braces, are over-weight, too skinny, big butt, too-tall, too-short, gay, straight, bi, big nose, little nose...etc. Ok you know what I am getting at. I am tired! So sick and tired of all of it! I see it on a daily basis with my son. I saw it in the mid to late 80's when I was one of the first white girls in my area to have a boyfriend who was black. I saw it when people would look at me weird when I would touch a black childs hair to braid it while volunteering at a summer program...I see it EVERYDAY! So who stops it? We do! It is time we start standing up and understanding that unless we say something to correct it, it will keep happening! Racism is bending all ways and coming from all directions! It just isn't white vs. black anymore! It is people against people. My son is not black, white, spanish, etc. He is human! We all are! Humans are born with compassion and babies are not born racist! If we as humans don't stand for something we all will fall for anything. When will the value of a human life once again be considered valuable? When will a child be looked at as a blessing rather than an object? When will stand up for the underdog again? I would correct my bestest friends if it meant standing up for what is right! Now it's time for everyone to do the same. So now that you have read this...sign the thing and pass it on! Don't ever let anyone tell you who you cannot love, be friends with, hold hands with, or give birth to again!
