With the availability of Intel-processor based hardware made by Apple that runs Mac OS X and efforts in the open source community to make virtualization a reality, in the form of WINE or WINEs commercial implementation, CrossOver Mac, running SolidWorks on a Mac has come to be almost within reach.

As a user of Mac OS and/or SolidWorks I would like to encourage the SolidWorks company to work closely with CrossOvers makers, CodeWeavers, Inc., to make SolidWorks run in the CrossOver environment, making use of the fact that current Macs run Intel code natively. Thus there would be little performance penalty to running SolidWorks on a Mac, short of installing a full copy of Windows on it.

As a signatory of this petition, I also welcome the idea of spreading the word about CrossOver and the prospect of allowing it to help SolidWorks in the Mac OS X environment.
