HE The President,
Mahinda Rajapaksa,
Temple Trees,
Colombo.

Your Excellency,

Start Negotiations on Majority Proposal War is NO ANSWER

The proposals submitted to your Excellency by the majority group of the Experts Committee appointed by your Excellency to formulate a set of proposals for the All Party Representatives Committee to deliberate on a lasting solution to the North East conflict, is appreciated as a positive set of proposals. Although this is not the first time such positive approaches have been made, the importance of this proposal is heightened by the fact that it was presented at a time, the hyped war cry brings forth a reinforced PTA, which could label every peace lobbyist a potential terrorist. We see APCs and MOUs as manipulations used to pursue a de-civilising war that neither party could win, while this proposal now provides enough space to reschedule discussions on a constructive agenda, if your Excellency so wishes. A political commitment your Excellency would have to register, by allowing the people to engage in a life, free of racist bullying, threats to life and restrictions on their rights and to engage in open politics.

We therefore wish to prevail upon you to,
01. officially announce this set of proposals as the basis for deliberations in the APC, without any further delay
02. immediately intervene in assuring normalcy in society, devoid of arbitrary arrests, abductions, extra judicial killings and a feeling of insecurity.

We wish to stress that LOST TIME IN ACHIEVING A RESPECTABLE COMPROMISE AGAINST THE BRUTALISED WAR, has always thrust upon the society, nepotism, corruption and authoritarian rule for the South and AN INCREASING OPPORTUNITY FOR A SEPARATE STATE IN THE NORTH.
