Stop 3rd party movie editors

Dear Political Leaders,

There has a recently been a bill passed which would allow 3rd party companies to edit a movie to make it family friendly. We believe that this bill should be reconsidered and should be abolished before it can start. By editing a film, you change the content of the filmmakers finalized product. Directors are already under contract to make a clean edit of the film to be shown on airlines and television networks. We believe by allowing a 3rd party company to do the editing, it violates copyright laws, as they are distributing a copied film and making a profit off of it. It also violates the artists freedom of expression, which is protected by the 1st amendment of the constitution. Owning the original version of the movie does not give you legal license to manipulate and distribute as you please.

Any movie that one feels needs to be edited beyond what the studios consider a clean edit, is a movie that should probably not be viewed by that individual. If a person does not agree with the content of Kill Bill, then they probably shouldnt watch it at all. A movie that contains violence is meant to be violent. Any excessive content will be edited out in the clean edit, which is acceptable by the FCC for television and airline showings. Hollywood is not forcing people to watch movies that they do not wish to see.

Please take into consideration our request. We, the people of the United States, do not believe that the government has a right to step in on this issue. We have the MPAA to inform people, and parents, of the content involved in a motion picture. If a parent is scared of their child watching a rated R movie, they need not worry. According to the law, movie theatres are not allowed to let anyone under the age of 17 into such a film, without an accompanying adult. This goes the same with renting a movie. Also, if a parent does not wish their child of 14 years of age, or older, to view a PG-13 movie, then they need to express their reasons to their child, rather than get a company to make a G rated version of the film.

We want to be heard! Abolish this ridiculous bill and make it illegal for companies, such as CleanFlix, to operate and make money off of other peoples creative works.
