As the construction industry turns around and progresses, Bogus Self Employment runs rampant on construction sites nationwide. The construction industry suffered most during the recession with the highest unemployment rate, the highest emigration rates and the highest suicide rates of workers.
We ask the Minister and Government to STOP paying lip service to the industry and put the proper resources and infrastructure in place to regulate the industry as has been done by our European counterparts and the legislate proper penalties against Employers and Developers who force or mischaracterise workers as Self -Employed therefore shirking all responsibilities towards the Construction Industry Pension Stamp and towards the welfare of the construction workers in our industry.
