Stop Executing Children

Iran uses the death penalty for crimes committees by children under age 18. At least 17 youth offenders have executed since the beginning of 2004.
Even The Islamic Republic of Irans highest judicial authorities have endorsed death sentences to youth offenders charged with committing crimes.
The Islamic Republic of Irans government executed two children just this year. Mohammad Reza Mousavi Shirazi was executed on April 22 for murder he allegedly committed when he was 16. Even his family was not notified of the planned execution and did not see him prior to the execution.
The Supreme Court confirmed the death sentence, stating in the light of the direct confession of the accused and the rest of the evidence presented against him, the court sees no significant flaws or shortcomings in the proceedings. Torture and ill-treatment (for any kind of crime) to extract coerced confessions are common in Iranian detention centers.
In another case, Iranian authorities executed 17-year-old Sa'id Qanbar Zahi on May 27. According to press accounts, his arrest, confession, trial, sentencing, and execution took place in a few weeks. How a 17 year old was able to defend him meaningfully in lack of time? It shows, even there is no fair trial for children in Iran.
We urge you to stop executing children and torture and ill-treat them in prisons.
Just stop it!
