Stop Live and Late Term Abortions

What is a live abortion or Late Term abortion? A live abortion is an abortion performed typically between 14 and 24 weeks gestation. A baby born during the 14th and 24th week is considered extremely premature but still has a chance of living. A live abortion occurs typically only when a mothers life is in severe danger unless the pregnancy is terminated, although some are performed for more selfish reasons. The choice to terminate your pregnancy in the 2nd trimester is given in several states including New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia. The general procedure is as followed:
#If you are between 14 and 24 weeks pregnant, your procedure will take two to three days to complete. You will have all necessary lab work, ultrasound, paperwork, counseling and exam on the first appointment day. The first part of the procedure will include the doctor's examination, manual dilation of the cervix and insertion of laminaria - a sterile material made of a spongy type of seaweed that expands by soaking up fluid from the cervix. This allows for a more gentle, wider and more natural dilation of the cervix than other methods. This process can take one to two days depending on gestation and the individual woman. You will have an appointment to come in to the office each day until the procedure is complete, so that your dilation can be monitored.

While the laminaria are in, you will be expected to stay nearby the office and come in for all scheduled check-ups. Not all of our facilities are equipped to perform surgical procedures in the second trimester. If the office most convenient to you cannot complete the procedure, you will be referred to one of our other locations after your first appointment. You will be expected to travel to that office for the subsequent appointments, but may return to the nearer office for your check-up. We can assist you in making travel arrangements to distant offices, if necessary. Your follow-up appointment will be scheduled for two weeks after your procedure appointment to make sure that the procedure was completely successful and you are healing well.

When adequate dilation has occurred, the laminaria will be removed and your uterus emptied by the technique the physician feels is best for you. Twilight sleep will be provided for all patients undergoing an abortion procedure in the second trimester. This medication will relax you, reduce the amount of discomfort you may feel and can inhibit memory formation. You will be in a "twilight" state between asleep and alert. This medication is given by injection before the final procedure is begun. Twilight sleep is different from general anesthesia in that you will still be aware and able to respond and react. This type of sedation is safer than general anesthesia and carries less risk of serious adverse reactions.

In some cases the baby is alive, and lives long enough to take its first breath of air. The baby is then either left under hospital/clinic supervision until it passes or a drug is administered to put the baby to sleep, much like you would do to a dog or cat. A baby born in the second trimester still has a chance at life. So why is it legal to do this to an innocent baby? This is a cruel and inhumane act and should be considered murder in the first degree.

#Anti-abortion campaigners had argued the time limit for termination was too long, saying a baby's rights should be considered at the point it had the 'chance of life'.
It is a stance Miss Slater shares. Speaking at the family home in Wigan, she said: 'We're so glad to have Lexie home with us at last and it just shows how outmoded our laws on abortion are.
'Some mothers-to-be would be able to legally terminate their pregnancy at 23 weeks - yet my Lexie is living proof babies can survive being born so prematurely.

So please, tell me how this is legal? How is it even thought of that it is okay to abort a child who has a chance to survive outside of the womb? Barrack Obama is working on passing a law saying that every woman should have the choice to have whatever type of abortion is most convenient for her. We need to stop this now!
