The recent industrial action taken by university teachers' over pay has already had an adverse affect on students who have been unable to collect assignment marks for some modules as a direct result of the industrial action.
With the threat of exams not being set and degrees being classified on the basis of the exclusion of particular modules, we feel it is long past time that the university and the lecturers stopped punishing students, who have no desire to be the chief victims in a dispute that is not of their making.
We call on both sides to adopt a reasonable approach to resolving the dispute and particularly on the union to find another way of airing their grievances that does not impact so strongly on innocent students.
