Stop the Omak Stampede and Suicide Race

Am I the only one that sees something wrong with the Omak Stampede and Suicide Race? It's barbaric. Not only is it a rodeo but it also features a race down a steep downgrade. People on horseback race their horses straight down a 225-foot decline at 62 degrees. That's the same grade as a standard staircase. Than these horses who are already terrified beyond belief are forced to swim across the 100-yard wide Okanogan river. Than a final sprint to the finish line. Horses die every year as a result of tripping on themselves in this horrible "sport". This petition is going out to the town of Omak, Washington to help stop this brutal display of animal abuse. It is also going out to the sponsers of this event such as Wal-Mart, Coors Light, Wrangler Jeans, and many others. One that comes to mind is Pepsi who promised a few years ago that they would stop sponsoring the event but they still are. Whether you live in Washington State or not, if you care about animals please sign this petition to stop this blood-sport.
