Stop the Parking Lot Expansion at 217 Linwood

We, the undersigned citizens, voters, and taxpayers of Buffalo, NY, oppose the creation of a 54-spot parking lot expansion at 217 Linwood Ave and the adjoining green space at 219-221.

We are alarmed at the Preservation Board's willingness to even consider allowing such a large, commercial parking facility deep within the Linwood Historic Preservation District, an architecturally and historically significant residential neighborhood that the City is sworn to protect.

While we appreciate the owner's desire to develop this property, their intended use is completely inappropriate. This land needs to be developed in a way that fits the long-term plan for this district.

We petition our elected and appointed officials to stand behind the City's original mission to maintain the architectural, residential, and environmental beauty of this historic neighborhood. We urge the Preservation and Planning Boards (if the former prevails) to hold firm to their true standards and to help restore the District in every way possible.

For updated information about the proposed development, please vist http://LinwoodAvenue.org/217.html.
