It has recently come to public attention that Tesco are planning to purchase the old Mercedes garage on Bathwick hill and build a Tesco express there, which would put the local shop Bathwick Stores out of business. We oppose this on the grounds that Tesco are using underhanded tactics in purchasing this shop (buying it through a smaller company named Hartford Manor) and are acting in a way that puts small shopkeepers out of business, in order to monopolise on the surrounding areas custom.
