Dear Premier McGuinty,
We are against the amalgamation between the Catholic and the Public school board. This is not meant to be an attack on any particular culture/group/board, but more of a plea made by Students, Catholics and Christians to preserve our school board, and therefore our traditions as a Catholic school.
The Public school board has fallen due to financial issues. If we in fact due immerge together, we will then in fact fall with the Public board. We will not be able to celebrate our Catholic traditions such as Easter, Lent, Christmas and mass at the Catholic schools. Not just as a school but as a community.
For those who are not aware, if this happens, it will eliminate anything based on Catholic traditions. These are just some of the effects that it will have on us:
-no Christmas or Easter celebrations, but rather "holiday seasons"
-school names will all be changed
-quite a few people will end up changing schools, because of boundary changes the combination will cause
-the chaplains in every Catholic school will be out of a job
We request that you will not come through with the amalgamation
