Students for Professor Greg Thomas's Tenure

This is a CALL TO ACTION. The word has been that one of Syracuse University's most respected Black Professors, Greg Thomas, may be denied tenure. If denied tenure, there is a possibility that he will no longer be teaching at Syracuse University. This is UNACCEPTABLE and will have a detrimental effect on the academic and conscious climate amongst students here at the University. Professor Thomas's courses are valued for their high levels of critical engagement and for the un-conventional ways in which they are taught. He is always creating something new within his courses and this will continue to be beneficial to students. He has also served as advisor to the Black Voice and is committed to fostering a proactive and productive environment. What more can you ask for from this RARE educator, who is not only about the business of educating, but enlightening and strengthening the consciousness of students. This is A CALL TO ACTION. Let this petition make it LOUD and CLEAR that Professor Thomas is NOT disposable. He is valued amongst the student population and we will not accept his denial of tenure. Further discussion will take place during the Fall 08' Semester, but we ought to all ACT NOW!
