Teach Canadian English in Canadian Kumon

Dear Kumon Canada,

On your website, I found that Canadian English and French were available as alternate options to view the site content. I see this as recognition that Canadians spell words differently than Americans.

As you must know, Canadians spell words using the British vocabulary. In Canadian schools, American spelling is never used.

Why is it, then, that Canadian Kumon uses American spelling in the workbooks? I see words like "color" or "neighbor" (which should be "colour" and "neighbour") being taught to young children who will probably use those words in school and wonder why they're being corrected. Kumon is supposed to help students, not leave them confused due to cultural ignorance.

This petition is for you, Kumon Canada, to fix all of your workbooks to meet with the Canadian standard of spelling. Cultural ignorance simply cannot be tolerated. Canada might be similar in a lot of ways to America, but our spelling is not. Your site claims that "good writing and speaking skills are fostered as a natural outgrowth of the Kumon Reading curriculum," yet you teach Canadian students as if all of North America shares the same spelling for all words.

I personally benefited from your math program as a child, but now I see the reading worksheets of young children and I'm shocked that something like this can be overlooked and dismissed as insignificant.

If you truly care for the integrity of your system, methods, and overall franchise image, then I hope you feel that this is no minor issue, but one that should be remedied as quickly and efficiently as possible.
