The Scottish Borders Rock & Pop Music Festival

Hi,

This petition was created to help raise awareness and concretise the need  for a major Rock & Pop Music Festival in The Scottish Borders.

All other Regions of Scotland have, in their own way, a main Contemporary Music Festival.  The Borders is a region which is perfect and crying out for it to benefit the people of The Borders and it's Businesses:

* Boost Local Trade/Business

* Boost Tourism

* Instill pride in the Youth of the Borders and help destroy apathy - inpsiring them to do anything they set their hearts upon !

* Showcase Local Musicians, Talent and Businesses - Let the world see what we have in terms of "all" genres music

More and more Businesses are closing in the Borders, with high street shops becoming vacant more and more often now.  Young people will not stay and move to Glasgow or Edinburgh, leaving  a gap in the Social Spectrum of the Borders.  This happened on Skye, where a lot of young people headed off to the Big Town !!  years later, the Highland Council's were enticing them back with financial gestures and/or incentives !

If local businesses go, there will be less and less employment - if there is not emplyment, then the young people will also go !

This is a huge undertaking, but the people behind this Petition, which we can present to the "Powers That Be" and potential financiers, are extremely passionate about this.  The Scottish Borders has a rich and deep musicla history !! 

Lets modernise it and ensure the region has a world wide reputation for being a purveyor of Musical Excellence !!

We have an International Book Festival !!

Remember !!  T In The Park started in a small field  and an idea !!

It's known all over the world to music fans and has boosted the local economy tend fold !!
