We, the undersigned, firm in our belief that:

- the use of violence in a democratic society, however many problems this society may be facing, solves no problem, but rather accentuates them;
- more specifically, the violent attack against the liberty of expression foreshadows worse attacks against other liberties too – that is, against all civilians indiscriminately;
- however insignificant this petition may at first seem, our silence would express tolerance, thus verging on connivance;

1. Condemn in no uncertain terms the attack against employees, spectators and the building of the “Theatro Tehnis” theatre in Athens, on Friday 4 February 2011, by unknown individuals who injured two persons, put in danger even more, by throwing molotov bombs, and caused serious damages to the building itself.

2. Call on the Greek Police to immediately mobilise, if it hasnt already done so, the proven effective mechanisms of which it disposes for the arrest of all those responsible.
