When it comes to the lighting of the torch at the Olympics it is always done by an athlete that holds great meaning to the city. Here in Vancouver there is one athlete that is held very high on our lists. That is Mr. Trevor Linden. He has great connection with this community through his play and devotion to our city, and country. He Was an Olympian in 1998 in Nagano, was the only player to beat Hasek in the game or the shootout and he has represented Canada in the World Cup of 1996. The ultimate representation of what we should all strive to be and what the Olympics are all about: Dedication, heart, humanitarian and leadership. He has for years been known in Vancouver through his play and his humanitarianism he is one who many look up to. We would like to formally petition to have Trevor Linden Light the Olympic Torch.
