UA Non-discrimination Policy

UAs reputation is suffering because of its failure to expand the nondiscrimination policy, making it harder to recruit and retain talented students, faculty, and staff. UA is the only member of the thirteen Southeastern Conference (SEC) member schools that has not yet added sexual orientation to its nondiscrimination policy.
President Witt and the University Administration have already expressed commitment to the core values of tolerance, inclusiveness, and diversity, but have failed to affirm the same respect for our LGBTQ community. Silence on the issue amounts to an endorsement of discrimination and disrespect.
Accordingly, we, the undersigned students*, call for the addition of sexual orientation and gender identity to UA's nondiscrimination policy.
