UC San Diego currently maintains 25 club sports teams ranging from
Dancesport to Equestrian, yet does not offer a team in what is quickly
becoming one of the most popular sports in the world: basketball.
We, as students and supporters of UC San Diego, believe that a
Club Basketball Team would attract many athletes that may not have the
time or level of experience, among other reasons, to participate in
UCSD's Division-II collegiate team.
We respectfully petition the Sports and Recreation Clubs directors and all concerned administrators of UC San Diego to form a new Men's Club Basketball Team in order to accommodate the various students that wish to participate and support such an activity.
We request that administrators address the need of a Men's Club Basketball Team as put forth by this petition, and if necessary, consider resolving any conditions that may arise in the process of creating a Men's Club Basketball Team.
We understand and support that students have already come forward presenting ideas and demonstrating commitment for the creation of a team, and we wish for them to be given approval to organize and facilitate a club basketball program as soon as possible.
