Unemployment Insurance Bill

For the fourth time in a month, the Senate has failed to pass an Unemployment Insurance Bill that will extend benefits to those who have exhausted their regular benefits. This has already affected 1.7 million people and if the bill is not passed before long, the number of American's without benefits will drastically increase.

Never in the history of the United States has an extension for benefits been denied to the American people when unemployment was so high. Since the 1950s, Federal Unemployment Insurance extensions remained in place during a recession until unemployment dropped to at least 5.0 percent. Our current rate of unemployment is nearly 10 percent and even higher in particular states. Thats the highest unemployment rate weve seen since the 1980s.

The truth is, Republicans will not stand behind the bill and one Democrat refuses to give his vote. Sadly, their feud has left millions of people wondering if they'll be able to support their families and pay their rent or mortgage. The people of this nation will not be able to afford their standard of living; they will no longer be able to pay for food, gas or necessities; and small businesses will continue to fall short because Americans will not be able to purchase products or services.

Senate won't return to office until July 12th to open up new debates and/or vote on the bill. American citizens across the nation need to be heard and we have approximately two weeks to get this petition signed.

Please sign this petition and vote "YES" in support of the Unemployment Insurance Bill to extend benefits (H.R. 4213).

H.R. 4213 is a bill that would extend the filing deadline for existing tiers of unemployment benefits until November 30, 2010 and extend for three months the closing deadline for first time home-buyers looking to get the $8,000 tax credit.

Americans needs your help and the Government needs to hear from the people of this great nation.
