The latest Skydiver's Competition Manual (2009) published by the USPA has excluded graduate students from being eligible to compete at the U.S. National Collegiate Parachuting Championships. After 47 years of all collegiate students being eligible for the competition, we feel that this change is unnecessary and unfair. We are asking that the recent change be reconsidered. We submit this petition that all students remain eligible, regardless of status as graduate or undergraduate (as long as each student meets the rest of the qualifications), at the 2009 U.S. National Collegiate Parachuting Championships.
The following is taken from Section 7-1.2 of the Skydiver's Competition Manual, Qualification Requirements (for the collegiate competition):
3. Enrollment
a. Each entrant must furnish a statement from the registrar of his or her school that he or she is a full-time UNDERGRADUATE student enrolled for 12 or more semester hours or the equivalent in the term immediately preceding the championships.

This is pathetic. Grad students are considered apart of his (or her) respective school and should therefore be able to compete.
