Veteran's Pension

Hello, I am one of millions of vets on "non-service connected" pension. I am also married. My spouse is able bodied and can work. I cannot. Why should my spouse or family be punished and not be able to work? Why are veterans on non-service connected pensions marginalized?

The Veteran's Administration law for NON-SERVICE CONNECTED (meaning the disabilities are not war-related) stipulates that if the veteran's spouse or family living with him works, he or she loses their pension. This is a welfare-style law and here's the problem with that. The veteran and their spouse aren't on welfare and wars aren't "welfare-to-work" programs. The pension received by the veteran is at or below poverty. Why is your government punishing these people? Because now that they've served they are no longer useful? What's the problem with that attitude by your government?

I ask your signatures because this is an unpopular law. Its time to change this. Its time to stop making veterans into welfare cases that can't even get a car loan or credit. Its time to stop marginalizing citizens who served the country and then treating them like they are an inconvenience, a burden. You and I can change this by signing and uniting and making our legislators sit up and notice.

I ask your signature and your involvement to change this. I ask that you notify others about this petition and pass it around. We need thousands of signatures for the legislators to notice. One won't do. Ten won't do. One hundred isn't enough. Please sign even if you're not a vet or married to one or know one. Sign because you're patriotic or you're not. I ask you to sign if you're Republican or Democrat or Independent or Libertarian or you hate politics and you're not even registered to vote.
