Violation of My Civil Rights

I recently graduated from The University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, Kansas. I still have not received my diploma because they are holding it ransom. The reason is the school is in a small claims lawsuit against a friend of mine. How is this my problem? Well the college has told me I am responsible for my friends actions while he was on campus. I totally agree with this and I spoke with my friend and he offered to pay for the damages of the Residence Life Coordinators eye glasses. They didnt take the money instead they took it to small claims court. Once the case was heard I went to the Dean and asked for my Diploma he still refuses. I tried to point out that they took the case to a governing body and that they had made a decision that the school should respect. But since the courts have not collected the money the school still is holding my diploma. I dont see why they are doing this they are the ones who took it to court and now they want me to be responsible for the courts to collect the money. This can't be legal but they are doing it. I don't want to spend money on a lawyer to get this settled and don't think I should have to either. I just want what is rightfully mine.

Thank you

50. Lauren A | I don't think that you should hold Jason's diploma just because of his friend's actions. That shouldn't have any affect on Jason getting what he has earned . Give him his diploma instead of making this into a big thing and don't have him go through all th

42. Melissa B | That's a bunch of BS!! He should get his diploma. Sounds to me like Jason and his friend tried to settle it, but the school chose to take it to court so the school should be responsible for the costs!! Not cool:( He should get his diploma!!!

38. Lauren S | Yeah... this is an outrage. You NEED your degree... how else are you supposed to support a family when you can't get promoted because you don't have proof of a degree. GIVE JASON HIS DEGREE!!! It's in the hands of the court system now. You people at St. M

34. Toni K | I don't see the logic in any way, shape or form in this. Jason's friend is an adult and is responsible for his own actions. Him causing problems should in no way affect Jason in receiving his diploma. He is without a doubt being violated of his rights.

28. Tyler R | After review of the situation, the school seems to be unreasonable. If the petition's creator was not named in the civil suit, I fail to see how he can be held accountable for the actions of another.

26. Joe D | I think a couple hundred dollars is heavily outweighed by the 4 YEARS OF TUITION SPENT there. Just give it to him, his friend's actions is not his responsability. Jason wasnt even a resident on campus, why are u dragging this out so much? What point have
