On December 4th, a group of students- including a group of KCL students, temporarily occupied University of London's Senate House library. Subsequently, the Police was involved to remove the students from Senate House. There are allegations of the use of violence by the police and the students.
Thereby, we- as King's students:
1. Condemn the use of violence by any member of the police. Therefore, we ask KCLSU to lobby responsible bodies to fully investigate this matter immediately.
2. Condemn the use of violence by any students involved.
3. Condemn the ongoing use of terms such as "F*ck the Police" and "All Cops Are Bastards (#acab) by students- especially by the Vice-President for Academic Affairs: Areeb Ullah, on his official KCLSU twitter page. As the elected VP at KCLSU, we do not believe Mr. Ullah is representing the students by using such offensive language against all the police forces. Thereby, we demand an inquiry by KLCSU into Mr. Ullah's behaviour and use of language and ask him to officially apologies for using his official KCLSU twitter page in such a manner.
Please sign this petition and share it with your friends. It is important that we all condemn such violent and aggressive attitude from the side of the police and the student body to emphasize the necessity of practicing our democratic rights peacefully. It is also important that we all take action now to prevent our union from becoming a polarized and divided institution that cannot function effectively.
