"What if God was One of Us?" We Want Our Joan of Arcadia Back

I was perusing the CBS Fall 2005 primetime schedule, and I noticed a certain lack of quality hour-long dramas. What I mean by quality is Joan of Arcadia.
I cannot fathom -- and I am truly befuddled by -- the apparent lack of insight that the CBS programmers are showing in this instance. Why Joan of Arcadia was not renewed for the 2005-2006 season is almost beyond logic. Shame on CBS for not renewing this singularly intelligent and moralistic program. While not a powerhouse in its Friday night time slot, there is certainly room for a show of this caliber elsewhere in the primetime lineup.
Instead of programming in the footsteps of NBC, why couldn't CBS programmers leave well enough alone? Why not leave Joan right where it was? I am predicting that Ghost Whisperer will fail. I say it will fail because it is already being done over at NBC on Monday nights.
With two hours of scheduled repeats on Saturday night from 8 to 10 p.m., what's to keep Joan of Arcadia from taking one of those hours? That is, if CBS is determined to keep Ghost Whisperer on the Friday night schedule.
I'd keep The Unit warming up in the bullpen as Ghost Whisperer's replacement. But then what do I know?
As you should know, anything in the Friday night 8 p.m. slot is not going to draw high numbers. People are still out and about or picking DVDs to rent. Former President Harry S Truman once said, "You can't polish a turd," and you can't force a show to be a hit in a lousy time slot.
Put Joan back. Somewhere. Please. Viewers need decent programming and Joan of Arcadia is the only flash of morailty on the airwaves.
