Xangans Against Racism

Xanga, defining itself as a community, is meant to promote unity and self-expression, give members a creative and emotional outlet, and bring people together that may not make connections otherwise. In order to become a member of the Xanga community, one must sign Xanga's Terms of Use which clearly state that users "...must agree not to use Xanga's products or services to upload, post, email or otherwise transmit any Content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, tortious, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, libelous, invasive of another's privacy, hateful, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable...".

It has recently come to our attention that Xanga is being overrun with blogrings and sites that promote such ideas as "white power", "white pride", "national socialism" and the Nazi ideals. Racial slurs and discussions about the superiority of the white race are frequent.

We, the undersigned, strongly object to these sites, not only as they violate the Terms of Use, but as they are offensive, sickening, divisive, vulgar, inappropriate, hateful, cruel, spiteful and close-minded - the exact antithesis of everything Xanga was designed to be.

We want you, the Xanga moderators and creators, to take a serious look at these vicious sites and strongly consider shutting them down. We know that there is the privilege of free speech and we strongly believe in this privilege. However, when one abuses their power to degrade another, especially on a service where they must sign an agreement not to do so, then they must be regulated.

We are men and women. We are black and white and every shade in between. Our interests are as varied as the shades of a rainbow. We refuse and resist those that try to divide us. We are united. We recognize that our differences are what make us beautiful. We are Xangans Against Racism.
