A call to end arbitrary bank fees

Reasons given for charges;
There are cost associated with producing running and maintaining ATM's. We the people that have signed this petition refuse to believe that the costs associated with producing running and maintaining an ATM are greater than employing live people. ATMs are saving banks money because they do not have sick time, vacation days, benefits, and are very efficient. So why pass the cost off to the customer.
If a customer doesnt keep much money deposited at the bank, but demands a lot of expensive services -- such as actually speaking to a human being about transactions -- the bank loses money. We the people that have signed this petition refuse to believe that interest you pay an average customer has hurt your profit margin so much that you must charge these ridicoulous fees.
Very simply the concept that a bank is supposed to use to make money is that it borrows your money (when you make a deposit) and pays you interest on it. It then uses that money to lend to others and charges a higher interest on it and or invest it and make money for themselves. We will not confuse the matter with bonds, R.R.S.P.s and the matter. This is a very simple concept. We do not have cash register fees at resteraunts and grocerie stories. We do not pay extra fee for napkins and straws. Relevance? These are costs other industrys have that do not charge fees for. They are included in the price.
To re-iterate We the people that have signed this petition want to see an end to the arbitrary service fees that banks impose on customers. Usage fees for Automated Telling Machines (ATMs), monthly fees to avoid ATM per usage costs, cheque cashing fees and fees to get a balance statement on your account are all examples of fees that are superfluous and in excess. These are basic services that should be offered by the banks. If your profit margins are too small then learn to become better investors rather than passing the buck and cost on to the customer.
