We as "Americans" fully acknowledge that Columbus Day is a sham. It glamorizes an individual who was responsible for the deaths and enslavement of so many. He is viewed as a hero, who discovered what would become America, even though to all evidence many groups such as the Norse, and the phoencians arrived in area even before Columbus was even born. More than 500 years has passed and with all the information that has been released he still has a holiday that celebrates his "Accomplishments". This petition looks to rectify that.
