Agorа to be screened in Italy

recently, there have been rumours that the theatrical release of Agorа (2009), directed by Alejandro Amenabar and starring Rachel Weisz, would not take place in Italy.
The historical figure of Hypatia of Alexandria is of paramount importance to Western history: the sheer number of publications on her life and tragic death for the past three-hundred years proves this.
Furthermore, several Italian authors have contributed to the image of this noble Philosopher, among which I would like to mention:
Adriano Petta - Ipazia, Scienziata Alessandrina
Gemma Beretta - Ipazia d'Alessandria
Therefore, the disturbing rumour that Agorа will not be released in Italy, because of the lack of interest on the part of our national distributors has led us to begin this petition in order to prove to you, and to the Italian media, that a large number of individuals were looking forward to its theatrical release.
We ask that you intervene and that you succeed in bringing this movie to our country and show the Italian people the impressive life of this woman, the violence of the Early Church (a historical period that, due to obvious reasons, is very much ignored by the average citizen) and the socio-political situation in one of the greatest cities of antiquity, Alexandria.
Our Facebook group has become a rally point for those who want to learn more about the movie, the history and the character of Hypatia and we are doing our best to promote Amenabar's work of art and the effort of all those behind it, including you, the Production Companies and Distributors.
