Algebra in DPS

I am a member of the Smiley Middle School community, the Park Hill Community and/or the Denver Public Schools community.

I understand that students need to complete Algebra 1 in Middle School in order to be prepared for college preparatory education in High School.

I understand that not having Algebra 1 in Middle School places DPS students at a disadvantage when compared to other students that attend schools where this subject is offered.

We cannot wait while DPS debates whether Algebra is an appropriate subject for our students.

DPS students cannot afford to be unprepared for college preparatory education in high school.

I support the offering of Algebra 1 in all DPS middle schools and the re-institution of Algebra 1 at Smiley Middle School in the 2009-2010 school year.
