On December 6, 2004, the Faculty Senate at Appalachian State University voted 18-3 to dissolve the textbook rental program and institute "alternative methods for saving students money". The minutes of the Dec. 6 meeting can be found here. We, the undersigned, believe that the current system, while not flawless, is an excellent method of providing necessary textbooks at a bare minimum of expense to the individual student without being a detriment to the education we receive.
We, the undersigned, petition the Faculty Senate to repeal Motion 2 of the aforementioned conference (Motion 2-FS04-05/12-02).

Please keep the rental system. It keeps ASU different from so many other schools and is a blessing to have. Just one less thing to worry about throughout the school year!
