Berkeley Law Curriculum

Due to recent construction, space, and faculty issues, several core classes necessary for some rising 3Ls are being offered at the 8:30am hour in the Fall semester. Many of those courses will only be available in the Fall. This poor scheduling means that several students will not be able to take necessary courses for their career paths. The conflicts would be less onerous but for the fact that several classes traditionally offered in the springtime were cut from Spring 2011's curricula.

Even more troubling is the way in which the Fall semester schedule was published. It was released just two weeks before general enrollment, and only one day before priority enrollment, giving students little opportunity to negotiate the course schedule with the administration. Indeed, we are deeply troubled by the lack of accommodation thus far to student concerns regarding the course roll-out and enumerated class conflicts. We therefore believe a petition is necessary.

We respectfully request that the administration move some of the conflicted, core courses to freer time slots, or add courses not currently offered in the Spring to the Spring semester.
