To Management of Sanjay Gandhi National Park Mumbai (Borivali)
Ref - Entry for Cyclists Pass Holders before 7.30 AM along-with Morning Walkers
Let me introduce myself as a SGNP regular visitor. I am a Birder, Photographer and lover of SGNP. I volunteer to clean Kanheri Caves and surroundings on regular basis. Every saturday i visit SGNP on a Cycle and inspite of having a yearly pass i am not allowed to enter the park before 7.30 AM. Sharp 7.30 AM, when the gates are open, I pay INR 30 and buy a ticket (extra) and enter SGNP.
World has moved towards the Cycle revolution. Cities in India dont offer any Infrastructure support for promoting Cycles. SGNP is the only place in the city where Nature Lovers can use a Green vehicle like Cycle and travel. Cars, Bikes & Cycles are allowed in the park at the same time. This needs to change. Cycle clearly should be given preferential treatment or atleast be made equivalent to morning Walkers.
Cyclists also do not engage in speeding etc and cause no harm to Morning Walkers. They are instrumental in promoting the cause of Fitness & Environment.
Requesting you to please have a look at the current rules for Cyclists and oblige. This will be a great step in the right direction for the whole Mumbai City and not just SGNP. If required, i would love to visit your office and further justify my reasoning.
Thanks & Rgds,
