They were detained on the morning of September 21st, 2010 at the Philadelphia ICE Office, 1600 Callowhill Street. They have been in custody at York County Prison since that day. On December 5th, 2010 their custody status will be reviewed.
They DO NOT pose a danger to the community. They have abided by the law since their release from state prison years ago. Their incarceration and impending deportation for crimes they committed in their youth has hit us hard as a community in Philadelphia. These men are no longer criminals. They made serious mistakes in their past and have rehabilitated; they are ideal examples of the model parolee. They own businesses and homes, pay taxes, are good fathers and family men, and are role models to the youth in our neighborhoods. They are main income providers for their families, who are now struggling without them at home and working. They are good men. We, as a community, are lacking without them here.
They have been compliant on ISAP and other supervision programs for years and have always fully cooperated with the government. They reported in on September 21st, 2010 knowing the possibility of being detained. They have strong community ties, family ties, and have been living and working in Philadelphia for years. This is their home.
All four men are represented by immigration attorneys and have legal motions in process. For more information on the status of their cases please contact their attorneys at the numbers attached.
We hope you will consider the voice of the community regarding their release from custody and return them to their loved ones so they can continue being active and contributing members of our community.
