Dear Premier Williams,
We as patriotic Canadians wish to inform you of our disapproval of your treatment of Canada's flag. As Paul Martin said in a statement issued on December 23rd, 2004:
"The Maple Leaf is the flag of all Canadians including every single Newfoundlander and Labradorian. It should not be treated as a tool for partisan politics."
We agree. Removing Canada's flag from your provincial buildings because of your monetary dispute with the federal government is completely inappropriate. We demand that you follow the example set by Paul Martin during his reign at Canada Steamship Lines and immediately replace all Canadian flags with those from the country of Barbados instead. We also require that your government start paying its employees a sub-standard wage and forcing them to work under conditions that would be illegal if you were flying Canadian flags on your government buildings. Further to this, we demand that citizens of Newfoundland and Labrador abstain from paying federal income tax.
The Prime Minister clearly has the moral high ground on this issue and we request that you follow the example that he has set for all Canadians in the day-to-day conduct of his own companies.
Canada's flag is NOT a tool for partisan politics and it should only be used for shirking one's responsibility to one's workers and one's countrymen.
