To The Trustees and President of Dartmouth College:
We, the undersigned concerned students, express our heartfelt appreciation for the tireless service rendered to the College by its loyal and hard-working staff. We fear that the Trustees and the Administration are poised to initiate significant layoffs as part of a budget reduction effort. This will result in a disproportionate suffering of the staff in the coming months and years. Laying-off staff will likely necessitate the hiring of outside sub-contractors and will threaten the atmosphere of mutual respect and appreciation between the staff and the students and the faculty they support. We believe the College must honor their request to stop this hasty and unilateral decision making process.
We ask that you afford them the opportunity to voice their concerns and bring constructive ideas to the discussion through good faith negotiations.
