Dawn of War 2 pre release patch roleback

This is a petition to Relic Entertainment in regards to their upcoming PC release, Dawn of War 2.

On Thursday the 5th of February, 2009, Relic implemented a Beta Balance update to address certain in game issues, as well as alter a number of gameplay mechanics. These gameplay changes effect the core mechanic of the game, changing the game from a tactical, squad orientated RTS with focus on unit specialities and combined arms, into a generic tech rush spam fest which offers little depth outside of who can amass the hardest units the fastest.

Dawn of War 2 has the potential to be the best RTS of 2009, but these changes need to be reversed promptly and completely, which translates to a complete rollback to the previous version until post release, upon which the changes that this patch brought forward should be carefully re-examined and considered individually before re-implementation is suggested.

The purpose of this petition is to give players a single location to add their opinions about the changes, and the opportunity to provide Relic Entertainment with an indication of the amount of players who are opposed to such drastic changes so late in the games development cycle. It is also designed to give Relic a serious heads up about the implications this patch could have for their game on launch day, including loss of sales, bad publicity and the potential for overall review scores to be affected negatively. The game has prided itself on its small scale tactical unit management since its earliest previews. When Mr games reviewer opens his shiny new copy of DOW2 in the next week or so, expecting to find a dynamic, unique strategic RTS, and instead finds himself playing the same old formula from over a decade of real time strategies, is it really going to favorably influence his review of this potentially great title.
