Delay the World Cup til Rooney is ready.

As the inventors of the beautiful game, England are by far the greatest team the world has ever seen. Unfortunately, since 1966, this fact has been overlooked. Some say it is because our teams have consisted of box-to-box grafters rather than men of flair and panache. We say it because of poor refereeing and cheating foreigners. Beckham barely touched Simeone. There is no way Wilkins should have been sent off in Mexico. And that Maradonna goal. Say no more.
However, this time it was going to be different. This time, we were all set to win.
And now, just as we are set to march into Germany and liberate the trophy, what happens? Our best man loses the use of his metatarsal. Mourinho, Carvalho, a potential England v Portugal semi-final. It smells fishy to us. And so, our hopes our ruined.
But it is not just unfair on us. It is unfair on the whole world. Think how disappointed a winning Brazilian or Frenchman will be when he knows that his victory has come from a Rooney-less farce. How will any World Cup winner look themselves in the mirror knowing that Peter Crouch was Englands danger man?
Its no World Cup without Wayne Rooney.
And so, Sepp Blatter, we ask you to avert this potential embarrassment. There is still time to press pause. To delay the world-cup until Rooneys foot has healed and he has had a chance to regain full match fitness. Sure, it may be a few months, but what's the value of time when compared to the joy of football? No self-respecting TV company or global sports brand would object. Let the lad take his time to get fit, and then when he says hes ready, we can have the World Cup. And if the Germans object that their stadiums won't be free, lets have it in Engerland. Its where it belongs.
Stop it while you can, Sepp. For the good of the beautiful game.
